Why Chiropractic and How Does It Work?
Why Chiropractic?
Ever since Hippocrates, people have been manipulating the spine to alleviate pain. Chiropractic today has evolved to be the third largest independent healing profession in the world (source). It has been extensively researched to prove its safety and efficacy. Spinal manipulative therapy has been shown to be effective in the treatment of back pain.

How Does Chiropractic Work?
Chiropractic works by freeing the nervous system of any interference, thus allowing the body to function more efficiently.
The job of the chiropractor is to free any nerve impingement or ‘subluxation’.
A subluxation is caused by one of three things: stress, trauma or chemical toxicity such as alcohol, caffeine or even medication.
The Central Nervous System controls absolutely everything in our bodies and if, for some reason, it can not work freely, for example, messages are not getting to or from the brain efficiently, then the destination of that nerve is not going to work as it should.
For instance, if a nerve root leaving the spinal cord carrying its message to the big toe is impinged or trapped, then that toe may become numb, weak or both.
Pain is the body’s way of letting you know that something is wrong and should not be ignored. Your chiropractor is trained in finding and treating the cause of the pain at source.
